Destroy Healing Pylons before refocusing on Vashtorr. For other Boltgun 2 bosses, attack Lord of Skulls' glowing parts and rear weak point, keep a clear shot on the Great Unclean One, and collapse the Forge Fiend's supporting pillars. Vashtorr's final fight is in God in the Machine; the encounter in Ascent of the Arkifane comes earlier in the campaign.
How do you beat Vashtorr in Boltgun 2?
Follow the violet link to each Healing Pylon, destroy the labelled tower, then turn your fire back on Vashtorr. Shooting only the boss leaves the healing target standing, so check for another pylon whenever the healing effect returns.
God in the Machine: break the healing loop
- Clear the opening enemy groups and collect supplies. Pick up the arena supplies, including Munitions Boon, before committing to the next fight. Keep a firearm ready for targets above you.
- Track Vashtorr as he changes height. He moves between ground level and hovering positions. Reacquire him instead of firing into the spot he just left.
- Break his line of fire with the rocks. Move around a formation, then attack from another angle. Leave an escape route: his long beams and the reinforcements can overlap and trap you against an edge.
- Switch to Healing Pylons immediately. Follow the violet connection, aim at the tower with its own target label, and destroy it before resuming boss damage.
- Clear enemies that block your movement. With Nyra, slide and Leap to make room before aiming again. With Malum, use ranged weapons against the hovering boss and pylons; save the Chainsword for enemies you can safely reach.
You don't need to stand underneath Vashtorr to damage him. Prioritize an open route around the rocks over squeezing in another shot. For character-specific ranged options, see Boltgun 2 weapons.
Ascent of the Arkifane: avoid the energy column
Keep clear of the bright vertical energy column while fighting across the arena's gaps, and deal with incoming reinforcements. This encounter ends with an escape sequence and a return to the planet map; you still have more campaign ahead.
Retrying after a death
Choose Load Last Save to return to the latest checkpoint. Restart Level repeats the mission and its earlier fights. After loading, locate Vashtorr and any Healing Pylon again before spending ammunition; their positions may differ from your previous attempt.
How do you beat the Lord of Skulls boss in Boltgun 2?
Destroy its glowing parts, use the side passages to break the blood tanks on its back, and hit the weak point behind its head before finishing the exposed head. The fight takes place in Blood Machine, and the pipes you destroyed earlier in the level weaken it.
Break the first set of glowing parts
Attack the glowing targets until the first health bar is depleted. When the axe comes down, jump over its shockwave and move out of the area damage. The door on your right opens after this stage.
Take the right door and look left
Inside, look left and shoot the two blood tanks on the boss' back. Clear the smaller enemies along the path, then use the jump pad to reach its back. Shoot the glowing point behind its head; the boss throws you into the arena afterward.
Destroy the axe, hand, and chest armour
Jump over the blood spray from its chest and watch for incoming missiles. Shoot the axe, hand, and chest armour until its health is depleted again. This time, the door on your left opens.
Take the left door and look right
Look right inside the passage and destroy the two remaining blood tanks. Use the jump pad and attack the rear weak point again. You'll be thrown back into the arena for the final stage.
Finish the head
The head is now the weak point. Concentrate your fire there, then approach the head after the boss falls to end the chapter and complete Planet Novoza.
Give the falling Lord of Skulls room before approaching its head. Some players have become trapped inside its model as it collapses.
How do you fight the Dauntless boss in Boltgun 2?
Throw a grenade toward the elevator as the boss rises, return to the open entrance for armour when needed, and get behind cover when the boss starts exploding.
- Open at the elevator. Have a grenade ready as the boss comes up. It's an opening attack you can use before dealing with the rest of the arena.

- Keep the entrance in mind. You can return through the open entrance for armour instead of staying in the arena with depleted protection.

- Watch for Terminator reinforcements. One player encountered two extra Terminators in one run, but they did not appear in another run with a different character. Keep watching the arena rather than relying on a fixed reinforcement count.
- Take cover during the explosion. Move behind cover when the boss starts exploding instead of staying exposed to keep shooting.
If you're also collecting the nearby optional pickups, follow Boltgun 2 secrets alongside the fight.
How do you beat the Great Unclean One in The Vile Root?
Keep the Great Unclean One in view through the opening in the enormous fleshy tree, attack when you have a clear shot, and leave yourself room to move around the smaller enemies entering the arena.
Don't let a firing angle cost you your movement space. Keep track of the incoming enemies while you attack the daemon. Once the fight clears, take the glowing exit to Mountain of Skulls.
How do you kill the Forge Fiend with the pillars?
Shoot every supporting pillar in the Forge Fiend encounter with a collapsible structure; destroying the last support brings the structure down and kills it outright.
One player discovered the pillar interaction with a rocket launcher, then deliberately destroyed the remaining supports instead of pouring ammunition into the Forge Fiend. The enemy's own attacks can damage those pillars too. In this encounter, aim at the supports to turn the arena into the killing blow.
Defeating the final Vashtorr fight triggers your character's closing sequence and the machine's destruction. Let it continue through the level result and credits. For the route between these encounters, continue with the Boltgun 2 walkthrough.
