Difficulty and Exterminatus

Low boosts your health and damage; on Exterminatus, keep moving and take secret supplies. For Malum's Boltgun 2 Exterminatus run, Shattered Station's Emperor's Visage refills armor to 100, while the waterfall secret in Welcome To The Wilds strengthens grenades and refills them to 3. Start by learning Malum's dash and chainsword lunge in Shattered Station, then carry that movement into Dauntless.

What Do Boltgun 2 Difficulty Levels Change?

Low increases your health and damage, while Exterminatus is the toughest difficulty choice. The presets are Low, Medium, Hard, and Exterminatus; pick according to how much pressure you want from combat.

DifficultyWhat to expect
LowBoosted player health and damage, with more room for mistakes.
MediumA balanced choice for a first playthrough.
HardMore demanding combat that calls for careful movement and weapon selection.
ExterminatusThe highest challenge, aimed at experienced shooter players.

Choose Low if staying alive and dealing damage are getting in the way of learning the route. Medium is a sensible starting point for your first campaign; choose Exterminatus when you want the toughest fights and are ready to work movement and supplies into your approach.

You also have gameplay accessibility options: Invulnerability, Infinite Ammo, and Unlock all weapons. Undying Mode lets you take damage, then saves you just before death. These are separate tools for adjusting your experience alongside your difficulty choice.

How Do You Beat Boltgun 2 Exterminatus?

Keep moving, use dash and mantle routes when you lack firepower, and collect the armor and grenade secrets along Malum's route. Treat movement as part of combat: another attack is a poor trade when it leaves you standing in incoming fire.

Shattered Station: Move Through Small Enemies

  1. Switch from walking to running at the start so you can move through the opening route more quickly.
  2. Dash through smaller enemies when they crowd your path.
  3. Double-tap your chainsword input for Malum's lunge attack. Work it into close encounters without lingering for another swing when you need to move.

Collect Emperor's Visage in Shattered Station to refill Malum's armor to 100. Look for the glowing gold wreath beside the sloped metal structure. This secret gives you an armor refill before you push farther through the station.

At the red-lit encounter, throw a grenade into the enemies. If you lack the firepower to deal with the group ahead, mantle onto the higher route and bypass them. Fighting from the same spot is not your only option; the ledge route lets you move on and save grenades. For pickups elsewhere along the campaign, follow the Boltgun 2 secrets routes.

Dauntless: Keep Moving and Take a Run-Up

Keep moving through the Dauntless firefight and use a grenade against the enemies when you need it. One player lost all their armor during this encounter, so do not treat the earlier refill as permission to stand still and trade shots. Match your current Boltgun 2 weapons to the fight while keeping room to move.

For the Dauntless gap, take a run-up, dash toward the far ledge, and mantle across. Give yourself room to build the approach rather than starting at the lip and trying to force the crossing.

Welcome To The Wilds: Refill Grenades at the Waterfall

Take the grenade reinforcement at the waterfall secret in Welcome To The Wilds. It strengthens your grenades and replenishes your supply to 3, making this stop useful for both damage and ammunition.

Festering Bog: Watch the Distant Enemies

Watch enemies farther along the route while you cross Festering Bog's difficult terrain. Do not let distant fire keep wearing you down while your attention stays on the ground immediately ahead.

These stops give you armor in Shattered Station, a way across the Dauntless gap, and stronger grenades at the waterfall. Continue with the Boltgun 2 walkthrough for the next mission route, keeping those movement habits as you advance.
