Trophies

Unlock all 16 trophies through two runs, 33 Seals, 174 Secrets and a Nurgling taunt. Finish Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 as both Malum and Nyra, complete one run on Exterminatus, and take opposite routes at all three campaign splits to finish every level. This Boltgun 2 trophy guide puts the campaign requirements first, then explains how to finish your collection through Level Select.

Dauntless, Novoza Cleansed, Bitter Victory, Production Restored and Retribution come from campaign progress. Your main planning jobs are finishing with both characters, covering the branches and collecting everything. There are no missable trophies, so leaving a collectible behind does not mean starting the campaign again.

How many playthroughs do Boltgun 2 trophies need?

You need at least two campaign playthroughs because Malum and Nyra each have a completion trophy. Both characters play the same campaign levels, so use the second run to take the paths you skipped during the first.

  1. Start on Exterminatus with your preferred character. Collect Seals and Secrets as you go, and keep track of your choices at the three route splits. Finishing on this difficulty also earns the Low, Medium and Hard completion trophies.
  2. Finish with the other character. Pick the opposite option at each split. You can set this run to Low, where enemies have less HP, since your Exterminatus completion has already handled the difficulty trophies.
  3. Return through Level Select. Use your first character to collect the remaining Seals and finish any incomplete collectible totals. Completed levels become available to both characters.
  4. Taunt a Nurgling. Do this whenever you encounter one, or return to Rigged To Blow for the specific location below.

Choose whichever character feels better for your first run. Neither order removes the need to finish as the other character; the useful choice is keeping your collecting work concentrated on one of them. Compare the Boltgun 2 characters before choosing who gets the Exterminatus run.

Can accessibility settings unlock the difficulty trophies?

Yes. You can enable Invulnerability and Infinite Ammo in the Accessibility menu for the Exterminatus trophy run. Complete the campaign on Exterminatus to earn Weapon of the Emperor alongside the three lower difficulty trophies.

This is the recommended route if your priority is Platinum with less combat pressure. Invulnerability lets you focus on reaching the end of each level, while Infinite Ammo removes ammunition management from the run. You still need to complete the campaign and handle the separate character, level and collectible requirements.

There is no reason to schedule separate Low, Medium and Hard campaigns just for their trophies. Once Exterminatus is finished, choose Low for the other character if you want less enemy HP during the remaining campaign run.

Which campaign branches count toward the trophies?

Both sides of all three campaign splits count toward Only in death does duty end. Each choice sends you through a separate group of three or four levels before the routes rejoin, so one campaign run cannot cover every level.

Take the opposite branches on your second run. If you repeat a route by mistake, the Accessibility menu's Unlock All Levels option adds every branch level to Level Select. You still need to finish those levels for the trophy; adding them to the menu gives you access to the missing work.

The final planetary choice also affects where you earn Production Restored:

Choose Erythine

Complete the planet Erythine to earn Production Restored. This is one valid route to that trophy, and choosing it leaves Trephine for your other run or Level Select cleanup.

Choose Trephine

Complete the moon Trephine to earn the same Production Restored trophy. Either option works for this individual trophy. For Platinum, finish both routes because every level counts toward Only in death does duty end.

Neither final destination has a trophy advantage over the other. Pick one first and reserve the other for your second character. Keep the Boltgun 2 levels page handy when planning campaign coverage.

How do you finish Purification Complete and Pathfinder?

Collect 33 Purity Seals and 174 Secrets, then finish the levels where you collected them. Each of the 33 levels has one Seal, while Secrets are hidden throughout the levels and grant temporary buffs when collected.

The Boltgun 2 secrets page lists every level's Secret and Seal count, so you can see which levels still need a cleanup pass.

TrophyTotal neededPractical cleanup route
Purification Complete33 Purity SealsCollect every Seal with the same character, including Seals on the other branches.
Pathfinder174 SecretsBring every level's Secret collection to completion with at least one character.

Use Level Select to check your collection totals and revisit completed levels. You do not need to restart a whole campaign to retrieve something you missed. A player has earned Pathfinder with different levels fully collected by different characters, so that route can work for Secrets. Keeping everything on your first character is still the simpler collection plan.

Keep all 33 Seals on one character to reduce the risk of trouble unlocking Purification Complete. After picking up missing collectibles, reach the end of the level: the totals update and the collectible trophies trigger at level completion, rather than when you grab the last item.

During your second campaign, you can concentrate on finishing the opposite branches instead of searching every corner again. Once those levels are accessible, switch back to your main collector for the remaining Seals. See Boltgun 2 purity seals when you turn to that collection.

Where can you taunt a Nurgling for Chaos Filth?

Find a Nurgling near the start of Rigged To Blow, in the room where you pick up the red key, and taunt while standing beside it. The red key is needed to advance through the level, making that room a useful destination for this trophy cleanup.

Nurglings also appear in many other levels, so you can earn Chaos Filth earlier if you taunt one during your campaign. If it is your last missing trophy, head straight for the red key room rather than replaying whole routes looking for another encounter.

Once both character campaigns, every level, Exterminatus, both collections and the Nurgling taunt are complete, Mission Complete gives you the Platinum. If your remaining work is a skipped branch, go next to Boltgun 2 levels and finish that route; if it is a missing Seal, continue with Boltgun 2 purity seals.
